About Realtek |
| Realtek Semiconductor Corp., located in the
Hsinchu Science-based Industrial Park - Taiwan's "Silicon
Valley" - began with a small group of young, devoted
engineers in 1987. In over a decade, these young founding
engineers built Realtek into one of Taiwan's largest and
most successful IC design houses. Realtek's efforts to
provide the ultimate in pioneering IC technology - along
with its firm commitment to creating unique and innovative
designs for a broad range of high-tech applications -
have won the company a worldwide reputation and made possible
a favorable and consistent growth rate in the years since
its establishment. We attribute this achievement to Realtek's
tradition of excellence |

Realtek in Brief |
From the dreams of our founders to today's
successes, Realtek has come a long way as one of the world's
leading IC design, testing and distribution firms. Our
sensitivity to market trends and customer needs helps
us develop quality components which fulfill a broad range
of needs.
Our specialization is the ability to bring costs down
on existing technologies while maintaining strong features
and quality devices. Many of our techniques are patented
and are used in an IP library which is utilized throughout
the organization. And, our ongoing R&D efforts are
bringing new technologies into the Realtek product line,
including gigabit Ethernet, wireless communication, advanced
audio, high-performance clock generators and LCD support.
We have seen that constant partnerships with customers
has not only allowed us to provide new, advanced products
in a timely manner, but has helped build and solidify
our relationships with those customers. Therefore, we
work closely with existing and potential customers, agents
and distributors to produce products which provide exceptional
compatibility, features and accessibility to systems at
an excellent cost.
A philosophy instilled by our founders is that Realtek
employees are each treated with respect through individual
responsibility and autonomy, and those who show potential
for management are supported and raised to higher positions.
With 60% of our 500 employees as engineers, you can see
that our primary emphasis is in technology. All this has
resulted in a professional work force which has propelled
Realtek into the success we have seen.
We know that our strength in products comes through our
specialization in personal computer components. With this
knowledge, we concentrate our design and development on
products which can be used in the PC environment, including
LAN, WLAN, sound, timing and LCD controllers. In addition,
we are strengthening our abilities in digital imaging
devices for both PC and independent environments. Our
management of intellectual resources, such as design libraries,
is a key factor in our development of products.
A major function of Realtek is the testing of our semiconductor
wafers and packaged chips. Our testing facility, based
on ISO standards, is used to test our products in the
wafer stage as well as in the package stage, just before
they are sent to the market. Having this kind of service
allows us to provide excellent quality products as well
as a strong control over scheduling.
Realtek chips are sold worldwide through several channels.
Our primary channel has always been the Taiwan computer
industry, and we have very strong relationships with Taiwan-based
system manufacturers, such as motherboard, LAN products,
and notebook makers.
Now that we have grown and seen more international exposure,
our international distributors, agents, and sales representatives
have taken a more proactive approach to their markets,
increasing our coverage, sales and reputation in the world
IT market. And, though we have agencies around the world,
we can be contacted directly through the Contact section
of our web
site.
With a majority market share of the world's LAN controllers
and significant percentages for our other product lines,
we have proven that the right combination of personnel,
technology and teamwork can create great things. |
